Game News: Assassin's Creed Trailer and Pre-Order Packs




Ubisoft have released a new Assassin's Creed III trailer. This time showing off the main protagonist "Rathonhake:ton" Though he calls himself Connor.

Ubisoft has also revealed the pre-order bonuses for Assassin's Creed III. There are 3 different pre-order packs ranging from standard copy to the Freedom Edition.




Assassin's Creed III: Freedom Edition


The Freedom Edition includes the following:

Game News: In Depth Look At The Assassin's Creed 3 Trailer


The Assassin's Creed Website countdown timer has reached an end and with it has come a "Reveal Trailer" more commonly known as an announcement trailer.


Unfortunately the trailer doe not show any gameplay footage although it does give the general idea on where the game will be set and what features will be available.

The trailers start with an Eagle soaring over Mohawk Valley towards a beautiful sunrise. The vast valley stretching for miles showing how large the game actually is. The valley is covered in a thick layer of snow.
A glimpse of the British flag and some dead bodies are shown lying in the snow with the morning sun beaming through the trees.

Flashbacks to the night before show a glimpse off an assassin hold an axe shaped as the Assassin's Creed logo.

This protagonist is no other than the assassin, Ratohnaké:ton, However he calls himself Connor. He is watching a group of British soldiers from a distance. 

Some glimpse of the fight between Connor and some British soldiers are shown. Connor use speed to his advantage and deals with the soldiers in a couple of seconds. He finish the final soldier off with a leap from above smashing him in the head with his axe.
 

After the flashback we see the dead British soldiers are getting ripped apart by a pack of wolves, confirming that there will be animals (hopefully similar to red dead redemption).

Connor is then seen running in the trees jumping from branch to branch. Similar to navigating the rooftops in the earlier games.

Connor suddenly stops and the camera pans out to view a huge battlefield.

George Washington is now seen commanding his troops into battle.
"The time is now near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves! Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of brave resistance or the most abject submission. We have therefore resolved to conquer, or die."
 This is quite similar to a real George Washington quote.

 The American soldiers then start charging at the British as the Assassin's Creed 3 logo appears.
October 31st is plastered as the official release date for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360. PC owners will be disappointed to see the small text at the bottom saying "PC format release to be confirmed" sadly Ubisoft seem to be delaying the game for PC this is not a huge surprise though as they have delayed the game for PC users ever since the original game. Ubisoft has also confirmed Assassin's Creed III will be available on the Wii U before the 2012 Holiday Season.

Games News: Assassin's Creed III Details



If you head over to the Assassin's Creed Website you will notice there is a mysterious countdown timer. At 5pm GMT Monday afternoon (4am on Tuesday for Australian readers) we will find out what Ubisoft has in store for the latest upcoming Assassin's Creed title.




Earlier this week Ubisoft revealed the box-art for Assassin's Creed III. Depicting the protagonist moments before killing what looks to be a British solider, with an American flag in the background. This confirms the recent rumours of the game being set in the era of the American Revolution. The latest edition of Game Informer has the latest details about the game . There was way to much to go into huge details but let's just say it's looking like gamers will be seeing a very different Assassin's Creed game than they are used to in the previous titles in the series. 

Assassin's Creed 3 Details (via Gaming Bolt):

"- There will be brand new environments and all-new ways to exploit them to your advantage, according to the creative director Alex Hutchinson.

- The cinematic presentations will extend beyond combat into a complex way of storytelling. The game will have actually have the Mohawk language (Iroquois) in some scenes. Mohawk was one of the languages of the native Americans.

- The development cycle was the longest compared to any Assassin’s Creed game. It seems the game was developed simultaneously with the other spin-offs (Brotherhood and Revelations). According to Ubisoft’s CEO, AC3 has been in development for three years.

- The game tells a story of Templars vs Americans. It’s not about winning the war, but a story based on the main protagonist’s life.

- The game will feature a new camera, which focuses on the best possible view of the action.

- The game runs on a brand new version of the Anvil engine.



- The new Assassin is the son of a Native American woman and a British soldier. He calls himself Connor, but his birth name is Ratohnhaké:ton. Born into the Mohawk, he eventually crosses paths with the Assassins in his search for righteousness.

- Connor is quiet and stoic, letting actions speak for himself rather than conversing with others. In contrast to Ezio, Connor is a freedom fighter who acts in the name of justice rather than on personal revenge.

- Settings will include Boston, New York and a large countryside. The countryside will be the setting of about 1/3 of the game, and will be the location of many events during the game. The countryside will be about 1.5 times as big as Rome in Brotherhood.

- The protagonist will fight on the American side, with primary allies being George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee. However, this does not mean that the Americans are the good guys and the British are the bad guys. Templars are everywhere.

- There will be seasons in the game, meaning that the sun will shine during summer and the landscape will be covered in snow during winter. This is probably the best new feature in Assassin’s Creed 3.

- You can chain kills in the game using the tomahawk and the knife.



- Fighting and stealth will be completely redesigned, with Connor being compared to a “predator”. The player will be able to climb trees and other natural elements, and dual-wielding weapons such as a dagger and a tomahawk is now also an option.

- Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.

- There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16.

- Desmond will go into the new Animus 3.0 and will find himself going into “significant events”.

- 100% sync in memories returns, though this time you will be rewarded when you complete memories to 100%. Checkpoints will also be introduced to mission replay, meaning you don’t have to replay an entire mission to get that 100% sync.

- The Brotherhood, or the Assassin’s Guild, will return in some form, albeit differently than we have seen before.

- Human shields are in, along with context sensitive actions. The target locking is gone, so the combat dynamics have changed.

- There is a fast travel system.



- There will be no more Mercenaries, Thieves, Courtesans, Romani or other factions, but there will be a replacement for them."


Assassin's Creed III is due to be released on the 30th of October 2012 in North America, with a Europen & Australian release expected for around the same time.
